After wonderful holiday season we are back South under the warm pleasant sun getting ready to start a new year, curious what secrets does it hold and what surprises that it hide.

8 Days of Joy

Yesterday was the last day of Chanukah. – the festival of lights – the holiday of miracles. It is a special time for us, as we eat the special Chanukah doughnuts (Sufganiot), the potato pancakes (Latkes) and light the menorah each night.

Glimpse of the heart of Music

It was here in the country of Horses Whiskey and Honky-Tonk that the country music was born, and still alive. When you walk the streets of downtown Nashville, TN you can feel the heart beats and wild flow of the music in the veins of this Music City. Being big fans of country music, that was our destination for the W/E

The week that it was

Rain is a Good Thing

Rain makes corn, Corn makes whiskey…You can’t say you visited Kentucky without visiting a Bourbon Distillery. And what distillery says Bourbon more than Jim Beam. So today we visited the site and the visitor center, and let me tell ya, wherever there is alcohol there is fun and good time.

Life Balance

We are ‘Full-Timers’ twice. Full Time RVers having to work Full Time. Being a full timer before retirement brings its own challenges and we are still adjusting to our ever changing lifestyle. Our main challenge is the balance between the outdoor life and work, but not the only one.

Still Alive

Believe it or not – I am still alive!! It has been a loooong while since I last published my blog. So many things have happened that it would be so hard to even remember everything, but I will sure try.

From Fast to Feast in a Day

It was Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, today. A very holy day for the Jewish people, a day of fasting. It also happen to be the day Patti decided to make her first recipe of Julia Child - boeuf à la bourguignonne, or in its more common name - Beef bourguignon. It did not make fasting, easy, I can tell you that, but it was a very happy ending for both.

Life is good today

As the song “Toes” of Zac Brown Band says: I got my toes in the water, ass in the sand - Not a worry in the world, a cold beer in my hand - Life is good today, life is good today… Had a wonderful New Year Dinner, Got a new Phone Service and a New Home. Moved to PA and looking forward to have some fun with my daughters and my friends. We love it!

Circles of Life

Circles of life and nature are opening and closing all the time. End of summer again and the fall is starting. It is a rainy Labor Day weekend this year. My second daughter is 18 – just became an adult, and we are getting ready to leave the are for our second circle around. New friends and family relations are coming to our lives, some are leaving and some are just taking a break. Circles of life.

RVenture

While most of the time it is real fun living in an RV, sometimes it can be a challenge. This is what happened this morning when we didn’t follow the code. We laugh now, but it wasn’t so funny earlier today

Should I Stay or Should I go now

The wedding is over and our grand daughters are back home. We are finally FREE again. So we planned to go south early this year, but as soon as we get ready to go, everybody around us want us to stay. We are here for 2 months – and no one calls, but now – they do. So we are debating. After all no one is waiting for us, and September is not that bad in the mid-west, so we might stay for couple more weeks.

One year, Full Circle and a Two month break

Hard to believe it has been two full moths since my last post – so much has happened since then it feels as if it was ions away… Maybe this is the nature of summer, or maybe it is the many changes we have gone through. Either way – I am glad you are still here, with me. And if you are new to my blog – Welcome aboard! It was last July when we first started our journey right here in the mid-west. And it was this July when we are back here in the mid-west closing a full circle around the country, and around our life.

Lord Protect me from My Friends

The saying, Lord Protect me from my friends, I can take care of my enemies, is ten folds stronger when it comes to family. In particular – kids – parents relationship. Almost any parent got hurt in one way or another from their kids, and this is our turn, I guess. Both Patti and I are very hurt these days, and it is hard to move on.

March the Arch

We have been in this lovely state for sometime now, 5 weeks at 3 different places with a very busy schedule of hiking and visiting. This state is blessed with unparalleled natural beauty and we enjoyed each and every bit we could absorb. We know we just so the tip of the iceberg, and we also know we will be back, someday sometime. As the summer gets closer we need to move on North. Moab Adventures

A treasure in Mid UT

When we first looked at UT on the map, we saw so many places to visit, and so many parks. We decided to stay at two main anchors close to as many places as possible and what we can’t see this time, will see next time around. We chose one location in SW close to Zion Bryce and Cedar Breaks, and the other one in the west – closer to Arches and Canyonland. In between we thought to find a place for an overnight stay on the way. This middle place turned out to be one of the best locations we have stayed.

What RVing is all about

This month of May, since we entered the state of UT we are having a blast. One trip after another and each place is nothing like the other. Just when you think you have seen it all, UT can surprise you with yet another unprecedented beauty.

Introduction to SW Utah

All along I was looking forward to get to this state. The stories, the amount of parks and the reputation of this state raised the expectation to a very high level. With this high level of expectation it is easy to get disappointed, and very hard to meet them. But since we got here – I am amazed every day, it is way above and beyond my expectation. Heaven on earth, and by far the most beautiful state I have seen so far. So here is our first impression

Stinky week at Camping World

After 3 weeks that we were gone, we finally came back home with our new truck, hoping to hook everything and hit the road. 3 weeks were not enough to fix our unit, but this is nothing compare to the surprise that was waiting for us

Route 66 – Last Episode

So much to tell and so much to show about this historic route 66. It has been over a week since we arrived to AZ and I am still documenting that trip. This last leg we visited a national park and a mix of fire and Ice. lots of pictures – enjoy.

Route 66 – Act II

I last told you how we just entered TX on Route 66. We still have long ways before we get back to AZ where HOME currently is. The drive through time was amazing by itself, but other side trips on the way made it even better.

Historic Route 66 - Part I

It has been almost 3,000 miles and a full week of driving, heading back from PA to AZ. When we drove though KS I thought why not enjoy the drive instead of staying on the freeway, so from KS to AZ we took the Mother of all roads, the main street of America – Legendary Route 66.

Got a new truck

Considering this whole trip was not even planned, the transaction went pretty smooth. Trading three cars for one and getting exactly what we wanted, when we wanted and where we wanted – WOW.

NM 2 MN

We are trying to do in 3 weeks what we did in 7 months! Our RV is in repair (again) in AZ and we are planning to upgrade our truck, but this is not so simple as it may sound… We have to drive across the nation just for that!

Grand Week

Finally out of CA. We headed Eastbound to the Grand Canyon Gateway at Williams, AZ and had an amazing visit to one of the world’s nature wonders. You must have seen it yourself and through many photos, but here it is as it looks from the edge of my lens

Still in CA

Thought we are getting out of CA, but not quite yet. We are by the tip of NV, a mile form AZ but still in CA. For the most part a peaceful week getting ready for the adventures to come.

Leg III Round I

We went all the way south, until we hit Alabama. we turned tight and went wild. Wild west to California. stopped by the ocean and the heat waves, we turn right again. This time North. Follow the Rockies, and the amazing National Parks of this magical path.

It’s a whole new ball game

Slowly but surely the lifestyle of full time employed has faded out and made room for a new era of unemployment or self employment whichever way you want to call it. The rules have changed, and so is our lifestyle.

Eventful weekend – The last of the Mohicans (also know as Moe) is in his new home – we are  happy and sad at the same time. We moved our new (3rd) site, and we just had a great weekend with my kids here in So Cal. read all about it, it is all right here.

Benson Tales

Falling behind

This last couple weeks are very unusual. I am working around the clock to please a customer and pretty much putting everything else aside. This is not the best approach but I get a lot of pressure. uffff

Great Weekend in Deming NM

After a stressful week we had a relaxing weekend. The weather was perfect, and we just had great time, charging our batteries for the next coming week. We visited some nice parks, tasted good wine, and are ready to move on

Stress and Mess

Whew! these were some rough days, those last couple days! but thank god they are behind. Lots and lots of computer time, phone hours and some stinky mess that caused us to literally puke!

Getting Busy

It has been a little while since I wrote my last post. The days are getting a little busy with work, and I can hardly find some free time. It is hard to get used to this ‘new concept’ that you actually need to work to earn money.

Arizona Days

We left New Mexico in a rush, knowing that we will have to be back probably by the end of next week to finish the repair to our RV. I don’t know when and where will we be after that. On the way we met new people and saw new places. The unplanned is the plan of our life!

Fixing the Rig, roll 1.

That’s it – we are out of the lone star state to a whole new place. New Mexico. On the way we attempted to fix the RV, and it looks like you are going to hear (read) about it more. This is not end of story. So we are on the way to AZ stopping for couple nights in Columbus.

Big Zbeng and Big Bend

This weekend started with a very bad message for us, and we are trying as much as we can not to let it affect our mood – but it is tough. We loved our visit to Big Bend - Lots of pictures in this blog. We are also concluding our TX chapter of this trip tonight and moving west.

Adventures of RV Cooking

Crossing the lone star

In the last couple days we crossed the great state of Texas from one side to another. Had some adventures on the way but we are safe on the other side. It is freezin’ cold in here tonight – You wanna know how cold? Jump in and read.

Survival in TX

We are passed the cold weather and it wasn’t so bad. We learned a lot from it, being the first time camping below freezing. I added a new corner to the blog – a recipe from my Chef friend Serena. Enjoy!

The Arctic fun begins

Colder days are expected all over the US, and they are Now and here. From now and until Sunday night it is going to be the coldest temperature we camped so far. Grrrrr… Brrrr…

Arctic Chaos

So what do you think, Did I stick to the last revision of my plan for this week (I think it was plan Version 4.2a). Naaaah – I didn’t. But neither did the meteorologists, so as long as the forecast keep changing, so as my plan.

Changing Plans – Twice a day
