It also supports WiFi as Wan, eliminating the need for a bridge/repeater.
Take a look at the CTR35 here:

http://cradlepoint.com/products/wireless-n-portable-router-ctr35Mottyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10905245750531969188noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8408221314082263415.post-66073077702688132192011-02-17T11:20:57.560-06:002011-02-17T11:20:57.560-06:00Verizon Mi-Fi is an OEM version of Novatel's M...Verizon Mi-Fi is an OEM version of Novatel's Mi-Fi and it seem to have great reviews (For example here: http://mobile.engadget.com/2009/05/13/verizon-mifi-2200-review/ )
It does very well what it intends to do - i.e. route cellular data into local access point)
The limitations of this device are:
- It supports up to 5 Wi-Fi devices, and does not support wired connections (for non WiFi printers, or desktops for example)
- It is limited to Cellular data. If you need higher speed or more capacity - you will have to use a different device (Usually data plans are limited to 5GB)
- It is limited to Verizon only. We use at least 2 different modems of different providers just in case there is no coverage for one of them, or the coverage is not so good.

With that being said - if you have only 2 laptops (that support WiFi) and your data consumption is not too high - that might be an ideal solution. As of external antenna - since it is not a WiFi device, I would be skeptic unless you are talking about a Wilson active amplifier. If Local Network is not an issue, you could always connect individually and directly to the campground's WiFi when available.

HIH
MCMottyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10905245750531969188noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8408221314082263415.post-61544701325156001692011-02-17T06:44:54.632-06:002011-02-17T06:44:54.632-06:00Great post, since we aren't full time yet we h...Great post, since we aren't full time yet we have been depending on campground wi-fi which is sometimes pretty bad, what are your thoughts on a Verizon Mi-Fi and Router with external antenna for the campgrounds. That would take care of two options. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.Sam&Donna Weibelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01405315775347233295noreply@blogger.com
